You don’t need instruments or even software downloads to create great music.

Whilst researching in to music instruments from the past and present I came across this fun website where you can lay down your own tracks using old drum machine emulators such as the Roland TR-808, TR-909, and TB-303. tThe best thing about it is you don’t need any past music knowledge you can just play around with it to see what old school beats you can come up with, especially if you are into your 80′s techno. The program also emulates a range of pedals to give your sounds that extra dimension. Its good fun especially for those wanting or just starting to record music, unfortunately though there is no record button so you cannot save your sounds at the minute.

The Boston Typewriter Orchestra

Drum machines are so 1980′s…what you need is a typewriter!

As you may know i’ve been looking into buying a drum machine recently, but apparently you don’t need any fancy technology or a drum instrument of any kind to get a good beat going. Rocketboom have done a feature on ‘The Boston Typewriter Orchestra’, the story behind how the Orchestra came together is also quite interesting/amusing.

The Flat Earth Society

Posted on by stephen ainsworth

All those scientist’s have got it wrong according to an online forum!

Theflatearthsociety.org have a strong believe that the earth is indeed flat, and back it up with some strong evidence such as:

Q: “Why do the all the world Governments say the Earth is round?”

A: It’s a conspiracy

Q: “What about NASA? Don’t they have photos to prove that the Earth is round?”

A: NASA is part of the conspiracy too. The photos are faked.

Q: “The government could not pull off the conspiracy successfully”

A: Actually, they could.

and

Q: No way could the government possibly guard the entire Ice Wall!  It would take too many men!  Millions of men!

A: Not really.  You could do it with a few hundred and some basic equipment.

Aside from the government covering it up, the site also comes up with interesting theories that back up their claim; Sunrise and sunset is actually the sun moving further away and eventually when its very very far away it looks like it disapears which is why it becomes dark, the earth is kept up on four elephants and a turtle, and apparently gravity is generated by the earth moving up 1g (9.8m/s^2) along with every star, sun and moon in the universe. This produces the same effect as gravity.

I just hope the person that set this website up has a great sense of irony, and in fact all this is just a joke. Whatever the reason, it made me giggle.
