Gorillaz – Plastic Beach
// December 19th, 2009 // No Comments » // music
It always seems like the pop charts are missing something when the Gorillaz team goes away to work on other projects. Maybe I’m a little bias on this but it’s always nice to add an extra dimension (or is that taking one away?) to an almost predictable and static music industry.
Like the previous two albums don’t be surprised to see a host of talented musicians collaborating on the album. Rumours have it that De la Soul have provided backing vocals for two tracks, one being “Electric Shock” – which shares the same title as a demo played by Damon Albarn on radio 1. Other artists to collaborate include The Horrors, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Bobby Womack, Barry Gibb. And Snoop Dogg. Whether or not these artists make the final cut we will have to wait and see.
What we can expect is big budget music video’s (I hope), a lovely updated website (that for me always provides inspiration), Gorillaz artwork plastered on magazines and experimental live shows such as the Clint Eastward performance at The Brits, and Feel Good inc performed at the MTV music awards.
Demo’s played on Damon Albarn’s take over show on radio 1 that might make the album:

Parlophone have released the album version of Stylo on youtube. It would appear for now that this would be the first single from plastic beach.

Royksopp – Senior
// December 19th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // music
Royksopp, along with other similar duo artists like to keep things in the quiet before a release. Unfortunately the same can be said for their next album ‘Senior’ which has been kept well in the dark.
Mixed sources would suggest that the album could be heavily instrumental although this contradicts other reports suggesting that a female vocalist could appear on the album. What does seem apparent is that Senior is; according to Svein Berge ‘the senile sibling of Junior who lives in the attic‘.
Those that were expecting to see a release date before the end of 2009 have been put back because of the success of Junior.
Songs that have been rumoured to appear on the album:
The Alcoholic
The Fear
Coming Home
